Sassy Housewife: A little Lovin for the mamas, especially mine

Happy Heart Day Lovelies...
Valentines Day... what a beautiful day! One to celebrate all the love in your life, whether it be your sweetheart, your precious littles, or even your snuggly pets. If you know me (even a teenie bit) you know that i have a major crush on a hottie who lives with me. His name is Tony Wagoner... and ladies, I am so glad he is mine. He is my sweet half that melts me with his kisses. And you may also know I am smitten by two precious littles Havie G and Lil A whose hugs are pure T Sugar... I am not kidding. Their hugs taste like sugar :)

But this Valentines  blog post is not about them. It is for my mama. Cryssi and I have an angel mama. She is the most beautiful mama on the face of the earth. She radiates love and was taught very well how to radiate by her mama, our crazy jitterbugging meemaw. My mama was the one who never hesitated to keep us home from school to have a girls day. Our mama let us have crackers and coke for breakfast (not very healthy but was perfect on those *we are not awake!* days). Our mama took us to theme parks AND rode the rides. Our mama said "pack your bags, we are going to New York City" Our mama taught us how to pray, even for the small things like parking places. Our mama did the coolest Egyptian dances late at night in our room to aggravate us. Our mama knows how to kidnap and scare the crud out of us. Our mama would whisper "watermelon toast" while she slept. Our mama was always up for a good steam roller. Our mama made the best hot chocolate on a chilly snowy day. Our mama rocked us in her old rocking chair and wiped away the tears when we had a bad day at school (even at age 17). Our mama was called Mama C by everyone who knew her. Our mama helped us make the COOLEST school projects, thats where Cryssi and I get our hot glue gunning ways. And our mama made me the most amazing Valentine's Box when I was in elementary school...  One that I will never forget.

If my mind serves me right, I was in the second grade when my mama made me that box. All I knew was that i LOVED that box and i was so proud of it. I named it and showed it off to everyone, because my mama was awesome. And my mama could make a rad valentine's box. No, I never had a barbie lunch box (brown bags with sweet notes were always our totes). We never had the designer clothes or the $150 pair of basketball shoes. Our bookbags were not the coveted Lisa Frank kind. BUT, I had the best Valentine's Box... with a giant heart head and arms and legs made of hearts.

And so, late last night (literally 11:00) Haven runs in my room after being asleep to tell me that we forgot about her Valentines Box. Immediately, I thought about that box my sweet mama made me years ago. I pulled out all the scraps I have hoarded in my cabinet, my handy dandy hot glue gun... and I started making away. While glueing and remembering, I kept noticing little tears dancing around my eyes. I thought about my mama, years ago, wanting the same things for her little girls that I want for mine. Not to have the fanciest things money can by... not to be the most popular girl in her class, or even the smartest. I knew when my mama made me that box, she was thinking the same thing about me that I was thinking for my Havie G... she wanted me to know I was loved and then to love others in return. And, yes, I have always felt love from her beautiful heart.

So, this Valentines Day... Haven did not have a box inspired from Pinterest. It might not have the most glitter or fru fru, but I see it and cry remembering a little 7 year old girl who toted her heart hugging box around 22 years ago, so proud to have a mama who showed love in the simplest ways. This Valentines is for all you mamas! Those of you who made the heart shaped pancakes like me... who filled out all the Valentine Cards... who stayed up making the boxes (shout out Becky lew!)... who show love to your littles in the smallest ways. Just how I will never forget my box, I pray that your loved ones will always cherish the little things you do for them! Mamas, you are beautiful and the little things you do make such a huge impact. My Valentines Hug is for all of you!!

Love,  love, and more love!
Lollie and Cryssi
